Sixty years of history of the special hospital for orthopedics and traumatology, “St. Erasmo” in Ohrid, is characterized by many specific features, but also by the low support from society, although the hospital is of great importance for the region. The hospital was established on July 19, 1950, as a “Hospital for the treatment of bone and joint tuberculosis”. Through many years of professional, personnel and economic development, in the hospital, in addition to the treatment of bone and joint tuberculosis, conditions are created to successfully treat a number of other orthopedic diseases, to implement new methods of treating acute trauma and the consequences of locomotor system trauma. In 1988 The hospital grew into the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology, and in 1995 into a Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Traumatology, the only one of its kind in the country. Zito Luks AD Skopje dedicated a month of donation to the children’s department of the hospital for this, in many ways unique institution. The donation month started on July 26 and ended on August 31 this year.
With each purchased bread or flour of Zito Luks AD Skopje, funds were donated for equipping the children’s orthopedic traumatology department in “St. “Erasmo.” “So far we have had donations only from abroad in the form of equipment, this is the first time a Macedonian company has started an activity intended for us as a hospital. It is the only hospital of its kind in the country, where children with cerebral paralysis and other bone diseases are treated. “There should be special conditions for them, which we hope we will achieve with the help of this donation,” said director Mitko Tileski.
